  • Great show but Awkward Venue

    Sleater-Kinney truly put on a top 10 show, going through songs new and old. The sound in Rebel was noticeably stellar and even they noted that. Outside of the band's great performance however, I found the floor layout rather cramped and tedious for a concert rather than a dance night as it seemed to push out anyone beyond the little square in front of the stage. Also from a commuting perspective, Rebel needs to sort something out with the city for running busses as I found it more tedious to get to than anything else in the city, let alone other cities where I've gone to the "remote" venue of the area. I was recovering a sprained ankle this weekend so having to the walk 20 minutes from the end of a transit line, under a highway with really poor demarcation for walking was pretty frustrating. I also found the remoteness of the area a little unnerving as the lack of people between the streetcar and the venue made it feel rather unsafe travelling that distance.
