About

English rockers Keane play a unique brand of alternative rock that highlights the piano instead of the more traditionally favored guitar. The band is made up of lead singer Tom Chaplin, drummer Richard Hughes, bassist Jesse Quin and pianist Tim Rice-Oxley. Anyone who has been to a Keane concert tends to talk about the infectious excitement coming from the stage, with a fun light show in the background to add to the atmosphere. In particular, during the tour to promote their Strangeland album, even the ballads they performed were described by ticket holders as rousing and energetic.

The band is named after a family friend who at one time cared for and inspired some of the band members, most of whom met in England at a young age. Though Keane has gone through some changes since the beginning, including the departure of guitarist and founder Dominic Scott, the band managed to find success after releasing its first album, Hopes and Fears, in 2004. Some of the album's most popular songs included "Somewhere Only We Know," "Bend and Break" and "Everybody's Changing." In 2006, Under the Iron Sea was released, bringing with it the hit songs "Is It Any Wonder?" and "Atlantic." That album was followed by Perfect Symmetry in 2008, which brought back the use of the guitar and also increased the band's reliance on synthesizers.

Strangeland was released in 2010, becoming Keane's fifth album in a row to garner the No. 1 spot on the UK Albums Chart. After The Best of Keane album was released in 2013, the members of the band announced that they would be taking a break to relax after several busy years of making music.

AMAZING from start to finish! BRAVO KEANE!

by Brusselsprout on 2013-02-04Radio City Music Hall - New York

It was one of the most unforgettable concert I ever attended. Tom Chaplin has one of the most unique and rich voice for an alternative rock band and is even better live than on recording. A gentleman an stage, that band is PURE CLASS! I had tears in my eyes during several songs. I am big fan of the band and flew in from Canada especially for this show. The acoustics at Radio City Music Hall was amazing. The clarity in his voice that was not muffled by the music is especially rare these days. SIMPLY THE BEST!

Excellent concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York City !!! Tom Chaplin sings his heart out every time he performs. The band hits every note flawlessly. One of the greatest live british acts to come around in recent times. I now look forward to their next tour in CANADA sometime in 2013 !!!

Most worth it gig I've ever been to!

by Jayjack on 2013-01-26The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts - Vancouver

I've been listening to Keane for a long time now, and to see them live has never been on my "to do list", but boy am I so glad to have taken the chance to see them in Vancouver! The tickets were affordable, and the seats were not too bad. It was one of the best, most worth it gigs I've ever attended. They sound so amazing live, and they played a damn good set, if I must say so; a 24 song set! Rarely any artists these days would play such a long set, and I was definitely blown away by Keane.

    1. Incredible energy. 2. Gorgeous songs. 3. Beautiful lighting and stage. 4. Great rapport with the crowd. 5. Pure joy. Only downside to a Keane concert is the fact that it eventually ends. Also would have loved to hear Neon River too. Amazing. Simply amazing!

    Vancouver keen on Keane

by klvancouver on 2012-09-06The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Always liked this band's songs but wasn't sure they'd be good live. Well, they were good, very good. Obviously promoted the newest album, which sounds great and one of their best, but also covered many tracks from earlier albums. Tom Chaplin proved a charismatic front man and hit every note perfectly. I liked that they played their music as it sounds on albums, none of these annoying, self-indulgent extended versions, guitar solos, etc etc. One complaint - they didn't play 'the frog prince'........come back to Vancouver and play it next time! Oh, one other complaint - the drunken couple in front of us.........

    best of show in years

by Shaneernst21 on 2012-09-05The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

One of the best shows I've seen in years, such a positive vibe in the entire venue from the stage to the lady at the bar to the guy who sold me the shirt. I left the Keane concert feeling I could do anything and restored my soul which is exactly what going out is supposed to do. Thank for coming Keane I can't thank you enough cheers :>

    Keane was amazing!

by ambernumber1fan on 2012-09-05The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Loved the concert and venue. Only complaint was that Keane didn't play more of their new album "Strangeland" Was really hoping for "Neon River" . They ended with "Crystal Ball" which I was surprised at...should have been Strangeland song. That being said, Keane is as good live if not better than their recorded songs, amazing vocals and musicians. LOVED it!!
