Worst concert ever
by Fonner on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 1 out of 5This was a terrible concert the only highlight was the opening act "The Sadies" would recommend them but definitely not Neil Young, it was like he was in his own little world and the audience didn't even exist. He spent most of the concert with his back to us and the songs were tirelessly long. Please don't waste your money, it was really bad, people were talking in the audience while he was playing and lots of people left early, including us.
Disappointing
by Anonymous on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 3 out of 5I though it was stale. Too much new music, I expected to hear the music that historically made them popular not a jam session of old musicians.
Fantastic 2 hour show!
by saskatoonie on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5We didn't really know how this show was going to go, having read the mixed reviews from Neil Youngs other recent shows...but happy to say that like everyone else, we stayed for the entire 2+ hours of his show and were NOT dissappointed!! Having two opening acts, he didnt come on stage until almost 9pm (to be honest we weren't wowed by either Los lobos nor the Sadie's ), but it was worth the wait. Yes he stretches out each song to almost 10 mins, yes he jams with his band a lot and yes there is a crazy reverb moment just before the awesome acoustic set. But it's all fantastic and even coming from a non super fan, you WILL enjoy it!! We had cheap seats but the sound was top notch and the big Tv screen helped To see everything. I'd definitely see him again and would say to anyone who even just knows a few songs, GO! What a legend!!
Ripped
by Guessman on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 1 out of 5My friend and I left before it was over as we weren't happy for the money we paid for this concert. The first concert we have been so disappointed in. If I had wanted to hear just a bunch of guitars and drums and it was that kind of concert I would not have attended. We paid a high price for just the few songs he did sing.( $118.00 each)
Wall of Sound
by RZimmerman on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5When I attend a live concert I expect a three dimensional experience. This performance went beyond three dimensions into an etherial world of gut emotion. The clarity and precision within the wall of sound was stunning.
Not exactly as I expected or hoped, but enjoyed it
by MrJeph on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5This was the first time I'd seen Neil perform in concert, and as the title suggests, it wasn't quite what I was expecting or hoping for. I guess I was wanting a set of greatest hits as I'm not very familiar with the majority of his extensive back catalog. Instead, Neil and Crazy Horse played a 2.5 hour set of 14 tracks (long songs) - I was familiar with 3 of the tunes. However, I found the majority of the show quite mesmorizing and really enjoyed the music and showmanship. I would go and see this show again and hope to see Neil again someday, hopefully on a solo tour where I would then expect the unexpected, but hope for his greatest hits once again :)
Neil Young
by redheart on 2012-11-16Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 1 out of 5This show was so poorly produced. How the people around Neil Young did not articulate this the Neil is beyond dispicable!!!!! Dont waste you money or your time. Everyone I spoke to hated this show. Neil next time you want to tour listen to the people involved and LISTEN to the comments as this is a great example of how sad a show can be... its sad as this show could have been amazing if you changed the set list and the blocking in stage.!!!!
The man was at his finest
by bobroygerry on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5A spectacular concert. Neil Young was absolutely at his best. I loved the wonderful throw backs to the days when he and Crazy Horse were the music of the day. His inventiveness and outright quirkiness are an inspiration for other artists and future rockers.
Where were all the hits??
by mkbk on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 3 out of 5With such a huge repertoire of hits, I expected the set list to include at least a few more of the classics. Instead, Neil and his band seemed to focus on dragging songs on to the point of losing the audience. And only one song for the encore was a bit disappointing. Too bad, because Neil Young is still one of the greatest Canadian musicians ever.
Young was selfish
by Oslernodrog on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 1 out of 5I expected some distortion/feedback songs since Crazyhorse was playing; however, I thought I'd receive all of Neil Young--a full selection of his music, instead of a couple of old songs. The concert was all about musicians getting into their own music, instead of entertaining who's paying their bills--very selfish. I left early. I used to make songs like that when I first discovered feedback and distortion--very simplistic. Too much gain with little to gain.
More Neil and less opening acts....
by Batman250 on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 3 out of 5Neil Young and Crazy Horse still know how to rock but they don't seem to rock for long. A legend like Neil really doesn't need any opening acts as he could do 1/4 of his music and it would still be a 3 hour show. The Sadies and Los Lobos are very good in their own right and I have no bad comments to say about them. They just weren't necessary. Neil's encore was quite disappointing as we all thought he would wrap up with Rockin' In The Free World - but he did not. I saw Neil Young (minus Crazy Horse) a few years ago and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen! More Heart Of Gold, Harvest Moon and Cinnamon Girl. Would I recommend this show? Yes.... but lower your expectations a bit.... this isn't Neil Young - it's Neil Young and Crazy Horse, which means you won't hear many of his classics. Would I see Neil again? For sure.

if Mr Young would have cut off 5 minutes from some of his songs (maybe in the case of Walk like a giant , 15 minutes) he could have squeezed in another half dozen of his classic fan favorites. for people like me who had never seen him perform live before, i would have liked that . for performers such as Neil Young who have a long-time fan base, fans are coming to hear the classics. If Neil feels he has to push his more recent songs...why not charge a few bucks more and give me a cd ( I'd have happily listened to it on the 3 hour drive home) and that would free up more time at the concert for the more popular songs. i guarantee you that 95% of the fans who attended would agree ...this show was good, but it could have been a lot better. maybe check out an Eagles concert, Neil.
Neil Young
by Independent1 on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 4 out of 5Who wouldn't enjoy listening to such an iconic musician!! Overall Neil Young put on a great show without the use of stage antics, lights, fire, etc., which is what he is all about, down home real person. The most memorable moment was Neil Young & Crazy Horse belting out Oh Canada with the largest Canadian Flag hanging in the background and then hearing the whole event centre joining in!! It would have been good to hear a few more of the old classics, some of the guitar solo's went on a bit too long, but overall it was a great show.
great show...super band
by kingcobraii78 on 2012-11-16Credit Union Centre - SaskatoonRating: 5 out of 5enjoyed the new stuff mixed in with the oldies. not too loud, just right. only thing was that maybe too much of an distorted ending with walk like a giant.
Wow...
by Coreytrevor on 2012-11-16Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5This performance shows exactly why I will go see Neil play EVERY time he comes to town. The people who complain that he doesn't just play a greatest hits tour will never understand what it means to witness a true rock god. Long may you run Neil...
Neil Young was very forgettable!
by Anonymous on 2012-11-15Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5We bought floor tickets, we had no idea that being on the floor actually meant STANDING on the floor for 4 hours! I have been to many concerts and have not stood on the floor since 1979! It seemed like a cash grab to me. The crowd was a mix of young and middle age and most people that we spoke to had no idea they would actually be standing for the whole show. I realize Neil Young and Crazy Horse had a new album to promote, but we also came expencting some of their old, great songs. To only hear 4 songs in the first 45 minutes was absolutely horrible. The song Walk Like a Giant was great, however we did not need to hear the same thing over and over. Over all a very disappointing show. For the first time in our concert going life, we left before the show ended. At least by leaving early we didn't have to worry about crowds at the Sky train. Wish the show had been way better!
Neil Young - Do the Math
by Okotoksball on 2012-11-15Saddledome - Calgary, AlbertaRating: 2 out of 5As much as I like to see classic bands reform, I don't need to see three guys stand in a triangle and jam over and over. Regardless if Crazy Horse does not like to play the songs Neil wrote without them, they should realize that playing those songs for the paying public is better than just jamming. Give me 30 more minutes of Los Lobos and cutout the 20 minute jams and the night would've been worth the cost. Over two hours to play 13 song, do the math.
The Neil Young part was great...
by Megala on 2012-11-15Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5The Sadies as first openers were uninspiring, partly because the sound was so bad. Los Lobos was some better. Neil Young finally came on after 9 (7:30 concert). He ROCKED. The lights were turned out throughout the arena for the Sadies, leaving more than half the patrons to find their seats in the dark. Not good!!
Neil & CH were rockin' my free world!
by Keaner4Life on 2012-11-15Saddledome - Calgary, ABRating: 5 out of 5And I liked it! Neil Young is a Canadian Legend, Icon....... and a god. There, said it..... This was Neil at his rock and roll best! Since Neil is a deity (and In this humble reviewers opinoin can do no wrong), I expected nothing but sublime perfection... And prefection acomplished! Neil and his band mates were clearly having a blast, playing amazing music and put on a memorable show for 2 hours! Some have been critical that "their" favorite song wasn't played.. (Including "heart of gold"... my absolute must) When you have a library of music as wide and deep as Neil has you can't possibly please everyone... Thank you for a concert of a lifeltime!
