Was allright. I judge a show how many good song done, so needed keep on rockin in free world, harley davidson song, alabama, southern man, etc, but at least did cinnamon girl and old man. Anyways, I like how atarted w our national anthem, was rockin at start, but boring in middle and end. Not as good as 4 yrs ago

  • Neil Young plays for a young grunge audience

by Pattic on 2012-11-15Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

He is one of my favorite artists but my favorite albums are Harvest Moon and Unplugged. I had hoped for more ballads and acoustic songs and much less grunge and loud jamming.

  • Neil was in fine form

by Anonymous on 2012-11-15Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Neil Young was amazing. He put on a great show, had a ton of charisma and seemed seemed genuinely pleased to be in Calgary. Loved the Woodstock throwback!

  • Neil rocked me to the depths of my soul.

by Kaarterik on 2012-11-15Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Few people in this world can do exactly what they want and make such an exceptional impact. Neil loves what he does and gives it to those of us who appreciate it. If he wrote Psychedelic Pill without the aid of weed, he doesn't need it. As long as he has Crazy Horse, may they rock on forever. I will always be a fan.

  • Neil Young was average

by Gordie on 2012-11-15Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 1 out of 5

The Neil Young concert in Calgary was not worth sitting through to the end! I love his older music but was not impressed with the music the band played all night. I had to leave early because of a few things, poor seating selection was my fault; in the rafters was way too far up in the clouds and I will never but in this area again!! The music was mostly grinding guitar with not much melody intermixed at all. The songs were mostly long 20 minutes long with grinding guitar from start to finish. I got bored quickly! Had he played some of his melodic hits from the past and intermixed his 20 guitar grinds then it would have been worth staying.

  • Disappointed no classic Young

by RandR on 2012-11-15Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 2 out of 5

Not expecting a heavy metal concert. Disappointing for many who were expecting classic old time Neil Young.

  • Neil Young AND Crazy Horse were awesome

by CliveC on 2012-11-15Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

From reading other reviews it seems a lot of folk are not familiar with Neil's work with Crazy Horse. If they were expecting a greatest hits show this was not it. Crazy Horse are loud, raw and ragged - I love their sound. Having said that I did think they over-jammed some songs and could have ended them sooner and it would have been nice if Neil had addressed the audience more. All in all a great show, Los Lobos were amazing , as always, missed the Sadies but heard they were really good.

  • Neil yoing

by stander on 2012-11-15Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 2 out of 5

Where were the classics? At the very least the encore could have been a classic. What happened to old man and a heart of gold.

  • Smell the Horse!

From start to finish, an epic journey into prehistoric guitar rock. This may be it folks--you missed history...

  • by Duce on 2012-11-15Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Wow.....what a show. Neil Young and Crazy Horse rocked the Dome with a set list that would please any long time fan going as far back in his catalog with hits like Mr. Soul and Cinnamon Girl. Fantastic sound. Probably the best Dome concert of the year and we're off to the Chile Peppers next Monday. I can't believe they could impress me more but.....we'll see. Cheers

  • Still 'Young'

    by Rainyday2 on 2012-11-15Scotiabank Saddledome - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Well I must say that for someone that is 67 years young, Neil can sure sing and bounce around the stage as though he was 20. His voice is fabulous. The stage art / cinematography was incredible which I would have to say made up for the volume. A little too loud for my liking but that's ok.

  • Great time

Neil was awesome. Started with O'Canada and finished with happy birthday. I still haven't received my two cd's that were suppose to come with my tickets.

  • Neil's Still Got It

    by BlindRiver62 on 2012-11-14Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I'm not too familiar with Neil Young's new work, but I am now. I was expecting a trip down memory lane but was thoroughly impressed with the body of his new work. I heard a lot of grumbling, but guess what, Neil Young has still got it. His ability to put on a rock concert to rival the great concerts of the 1970's but still keep the material fresh made this concert forever memorable. Otherwise we'd be watching him at the Red Robinson Theater or River Rock Casino, not that there's anything wrong with those venues, but let's face it, they are for artists well into the twilight of their careers, not Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

  • Songs too long and played out

by Hoopsie on 2012-11-14Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

Maybe because it was Neil's birthday and he was "celebrating" could be the reason why most songs were over 10 mins. long, mostly guitar solos. I don't know, but I was disappointed with the performance and we had travelled a long way to get there in horrible weather.

  • Classic

by mikw on 2012-11-14Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Crazy Horse and the Neil Young combo was a very satisfying show. Energy brought to inspiring classic tunes.

  • Disappointing!

    by Fan70 on 2012-11-14Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 1 out of 5

disappointing. dont mind listening to new/more recent material but the set list should have had a more even balance of vintage/old and new material. seems like he was playing more for himself than for his fans.

  • Neil Young Still Young !

by goodtime on 2012-11-14Roger Arena - Vancouver, BCRating: 4 out of 5

Endless Vibrating ! First time saw Neil Young in concert, didn't feel bad that I haven't seen them play when I was young.

  • Neil Young/ Crazy Horse keep on rockin alll night

    by cdn3034 on 2012-11-14Rogers Arena - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Not much of a stage/light show by current standards but what a great concert... Neil Young has proves again he is a master songwriter & can still rock all night. Played a good mix of tunes from his entire catalog of hits, plus a few obscure one that I've never heard before. Standouts were Powderfinger, Mr Soul, Cinnamon Girl. A couple of songs went on too long and lost the crowd's attention - Walk like Giant for example seemed like it would never end; despite this I still highly recommend seeing these guys while you still can.
