Was not disappointed at this concert! Neil can still rock out!
Too much time wasted bashing guitars and making feedback noise, too many 3-minute song endings... That just wasted our time. How about a couple more classics or lesser-known chestnuts from the extensive catalogue? Instead we get noise and "F*** Up" which like most of the songs was too long. One in our group called it self-indulgent... she was right. Great, play your new material, but show some respect and don't waste our time with stupid noise. Sorry. Like many in my section, not impressed. Loved Los Lobos though, and the Sadies too. Great choice of warmup acts.
My son took me as a last-minute thing. I really enjoyed the show. Two opening acts are a bit much (same as the Coldplay concert). If there are going to be two opening acts, they should be no longer than 1/2 hour each. Los Lobos did not play La Bamba, which everyone wanted to hear. That was disappointing.
We left the concert before it finished - people were in and out of their seats, wandering around, exactly what you would expect during a concert that was disappointing. Pretty much most of the songs were from his new album, maybe two of his original music. I was highly anticipating the experience of watching a legend play my favorite songs - I can't tell you how disappointed I was when this was not the case. I was sent 2 free copies of his new album - I didn't enjoy it and couldn't think of anyone who would, so I had to throw them out. It's hard when you pay over $200 (for two seats) and you're basically used for the band to try out their new music on.
He is so natural. hasn't lost his voice or his skilled guitar playing. He doesn't need all the glitter and glamour .. just plain ole Neil ..
This was classic Neil Young. He doesn't disappoint!
We went expecting to hear all the hits that made us Neil Young fans. What we got after we paid $240 for tickets, $200 hotel room, 8 hr. round trip drive was Cinnamon Girl sang for us. According to one reviewer who said "Neil should do this, Neil should do that....", well Neil can do whatever he wants, we won't bother going to another concert.
Neil Young was once again electrifying. And I know he wants to promote/play his new album. And I know he has an unbelievable connection to Crazy Horse, But my wife and I were looking for some of his older work as well. No Southern Man, or no Old Man. We thought for sure one of them would be at least the encore song. We enjoyed the concert and would go again, but we would have preferred less jamming at the end of songs and more songs, especially older ones (like us I guess).Leadin bands were good.
I wish we would have seen a little more Neil Young and a little less Crazy Horse.
Was so excited to see this performance and was sorely disappointed. I paid good money for good seats to get the best experience possible. But....the sound was terrible! The feed back and whammy bar constantly was too much. It sounded like a jam session with cheap equipment. I have seen a lot of different live performances and this one truly ranks one of the worst. I left feeling ripped off!
Seeing him again with Crazy Horse again was fantastic.
Great show! Neil Young did not dissapoint. Althought I would have liked to have heard more of his older stuff! I was disappointed with the T-shirt that I purchsed for my husband. We bought 2 and when we got home one of them was all frayed around the arms and the bottom. If I had purchased this in a department store I would have returned it but buying it at a concert is a different story. It will definitely make me think twice about buying merchandise at future concerts.
An absoloute waste of my money. We left 1/2 way through
Ok, My first time seeing Neil. And the biggest reason was he was touring with the Horse. And it was everything I had hoped it would be. Loud, fuzzyy guitars. Monster jams and soaring solos. Great harmonies. Neil's voice was in great shape and the Horse were into the groove. Several new songs which were fantastic. As always with a musician of this experience you can always wish they played more of "your" favorite songs (no LIke a Hurricane for example), bit still a great show.
A huge disapointment from everything after O Canada
funny how the newspaper headlines read, "Rockin in the Free World" and that one particular song was never played on Friday night. We waited and hoped for that song, and were dissappointed. IF you really like Neil Young and Crazy Horse it will have been a great concert. We wanted to also hear some Neil Young classics and were dissappointed. Sorry.
When I bought these tickets, I went to see Neil Young, not CSNY doing their impression of Iron Maiden. There was ONE, count 'em, ONE Neil Young song. The rest sounded like a bunch of kids in a garage band learning how to get feedback from their amps. Brutal!!!!! Total waste of my money.
Thanks for the opportunity to critique the Neil Young concert on Friday evening. Most disappointing – maybe give him 3 out of five. The concert was promoted to be a concert of his older songs but in reality was a promotion of his new CD/album – Psychedelic Pill. He only played several (maybe 5) of his older hits in the over two hours – most disappointing in light of the demographics of the crowd. His song Rockin’ in the Free World which was one of his signature tunes – was missing among others and he forgot his Winnipeg roots and where it all began. Give him credit for the length of the concert – but some of the 15 – 20 minutes songs were a bit much. At times the crowd – were cat calling for him to stop. Good for Neil and his band to have the strength and stamina to entertain for that period of time without an intermission. The whole concert Most disappointed in some of the people in our seating area – 322 – there was a lot of running up and down the stairs to say nothing of the pot being smoked in that section. One of the highlights of the evening was Neil seated at the old upright piano and singing the song I believe it was entitled Singer Without a Song. I do not feel that it was necessary to have an individual walking around the stage carrying a guitar – added nothing. The concert started on time – which was refreshing. The first group – The Sadies – was not all that great. The highlight of their performance was the appearance of Randy Bachman. The group Los Lobos left something to be desired as well as they did not play their signature piece either. The acoustics for both The Sadies and Los Lobos were suspect and it was with great appreciation that those acoustics improved greatly with the performance of Neil Young. Should Neil Young return to Winnipeg for another performance – don’t think tickets would be purchased due to huge disappointment this time.
Would have liked to hear more hits, sure play some of the new stuff, but mix in more of the hits... that is what the audience wants to hear. It's not all about you Neil! Think of your fans, we paid good money to see a concert not a glorified jam session.
There was one great piano number, a few great accoustic guitar numbers with harmonica and a hand full of other good songs!! The remainder of it, which was most of the concert was some heavy, heavy metal contest which I haven't enjoyed for thirty-five years. Friends that saw the last Neil Young tour said it was "one of the best they have ever attended" but this was a bad flash back and one not to be repeated!!
