About

Underoath has been a seminal voice in progressive, heavy rock for almost two decades. When you look at the long list of bands that would be considered their contemporaries, very few can match Underoath when it comes to consistently pushing the envelope or the ability to evolve creatively without losing sight of what made them such a special band in the first place. This far into their storied career, the band has unsurprisingly faced their fair share of adversity. But through the trials and tribulations, a commitment to their craft and a sense of accountability rooted in mutual respect for each other has ensured that each new chapter for Underoath continues to shape their legacy in a positive fashion.

In 2020, as a global pandemic shook the foundation of the music industry, Underoath once again blazed a new path forward with their critically-acclaimed Observatory livestream. As interest in the digital consumption of live music seemed to be waning, the band breathed new life into the realm with a complete overhaul of the process – creating something equal parts intimate and monumental. It carried the weight of a sold out arena show translated through vessels consumable in fan’s living rooms. What made it all the more impactful was the fact that the entire initiative was dreamt up and brought to fruition largely by the band’s internal team. Thus, providing another shining reminder of the innovation that the six members on Underoath are capable of pulling together.

On the band’s 2018 Fearless Records debut, Erase Me, we saw a new side of Underoath. Having already established themselves both as melodic songwriters (2004’s RIAA-Certified Gold record They’re Only Chasing Safety) and as ambitious power merchants (2006’s gold-selling Define The Great Line and the majestic follow-up Lost In The Sound of Separation in 2008), the evolution detailed on Erase Me found Underoath using meticulously crafted sonic dialects that painted a vivid picture of how the band had grown artistically in the long layoff since their previous record.

With their shared history of remarkable accolades and trying hardships continuing to shape who the individual members are as people, Underoath is still just scratching the surface of what they can accomplish as a band. There are few acts in the annals of rock history that can say their best work is still ahead of them almost two decades into their career. Fortunately, Underoath falls into that category. As the world opens back up in 2021, the band is deeply committed to living up to the high expectations that fans (and themselves) have come to expect for anything associated with the project. It will undoubtedly be something special to witness as this next chapter in the Underoath story manifests.

  • Great until the headliner

    by Jordan W on 2022-03-24REBEL - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Stray the path, bad omens and spiritbox were amazing but I was a little disappointed with under oath. I’m not a big fan of them anyways so take this with a grain of salt and of course art is subjective but when at least 25% of the crowd leaves when the headliner comes in there’s a problem. I don’t know if it was the story based intermissions or what but I just could not get into their set. The band has talent and I won’t deny that but spiritbox 100% stole the show and put on the second best live performance I’ve seen right behind slipknot. 10/10 will see them again.

  • Underoath BEYOND AMAZING.

They got me so pumped just waiting for them to come on. Letlive was a great opener and as cities burn and mewithoutYOU just made the mood so relaxing. The second Underoath started playing it just went all damn crazy. Best show I have ever been to! Everyone loved it and sang. So much energy. I expected a lot for them, but guess what they surpassed that by so much! It was insane! Their performance has impacted so much! It's so sad they'll never play again but it sure was a pleasure to see them! All the members killed it and I had so much fun, normally I like to crowd surf but the crowd was so damn amazing that I wanted to stay in and sing along with everyone and just thrash around. The lighting show was crazy. They really put a lot of effort into this show, I want to say thank you guys for everything, the show was beautiful we all left with a smile and a tear on our hearts. Underoath will live on forever!

  • UNDEROATH WAS UNDENIABLY EPIC!!!

by Edwads on 2013-01-20Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was their last Canadian show EVER! The performances were over the top and they played 2 songs i have never seen them perform before. They really put on the best possible show for their fans and we all loved them for it! This was my 5th and final Underoath show. It was the best and worst. The best because I have never seen them so insanely intense before and the worst because it was the last show I'll ever see by them. I wish it had been at The Phoenix, like it was originally planned to be. I'm not a fan of The Sound Academy as a venue. But it did the job. The merch line was insane and getting our coats after the show took over 30 minutes!!! We had to drive home 1 1/2 hours after that too. Other than the lines, it was the most unforgettable show I expect to ever see in my life... Unless Underoath gets back together in a few years ;) Here's hoping!!!

  • The Chariot put on the best show I have ever seen

by IlovetheGateway on 2011-10-03The Gateway (SAIT) - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

And I see roughly 3-5 concerts a month. With festivals included…. I have seen over 100 bands this summer alone. And nothing I have ever seen can compare to the experience of seeing the chariot live/and being in the pit for The Chariot. I was told that if I ever got the chance I had to see them. I would repeat this advice to anyone. Underoath is not my favourite band… but they put on a solid show as well. I was thoroughly impressed. Also it was so great to see these bands at such a small venue. It made the experience quite intimate.

  • Underoath was incredible!

I have wanted to see Underoath live since high school. I regret I never got to see them with Aaron Gillespie, but they still rocked the stage hard! The Chariot opened for Underoath with one of the highest energy shows I have ever seen!

  • It was a really great night!

I had an awesome time! The venue was setup very well, the crowd was great and I really enjoyed the band. I didn't find the staff at the club overly friendly. The band was excellent. PLUS I only paid 2$ for parking. Thanks so much for a great time!

  • Thursday was beast, even after 10 years

by Hyde on 2011-02-15The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I have to say originally I went to see A Skylit Drive and Thurday only. But Animals as Leaders turn out to be pretty good. Oddly enough I've seen Underoath probably like 3 times now but still not a huge fan. But overall that night was awesome. I started listening to Thursday wayyyy back when they released Full Collapse (2001) and it's still my favourite albumn from them. luckily this is their 10th anniversary tour so this albumn is the only thing they played that night. Pure awesomeness !!!
