Khruangbin is a three-piece band from Houston, Texas, formed in 2009 with Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar and Donald Johnson on drums. Taking influence from 1960's Thai funk - their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai - Khruangbin is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspiration, Tarantino soundtracks and surf-rock cool. By the summer of 2019, the trio had been on tour for nearly three-and-a-half years, playing to audiences across North and South America, Europe, and southeast Asia behind its acclaimed albums The Universe Smiles Upon You, Con Todo El Mundo, and Mordechai. Garnering glowing praise from The New York Times, W Magazine, Billboard, The Los Angeles Times, The FADER, Khruangbin released their very first remix album, Mordechai Remixes, on Dead Oceans, in association with Night Time Stories, Ltd in 2021. Each remixer on Mordechai Remixes has a musical or cosmic connection to Khruangbin and remixers included Kadhja Bonet, Ginger Root, Knxwledge, Natasha Diggs, Soul Clap, Quantic, Felix Dickinson, Ron Trent, Mang Dynasty, Harvey Sutherland. Khruangbin worked with Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter Leon Bridges, from Ft. Worth, for two groundbreaking collaborative EPs, Texas Sun & Texas Moon. Further extending the lone star state's sonic possibilities, the sister EPs pensively examines Texas' musical perception, while paying homage to the marriage of country and R&B that's become synonymous with the region.
Too cool. I’ll see them again and again. I hope they don’t get bigger but of course they will
Great openers too. Perfect show for a summer night in the city.
Perfection and style from start to finish !! Incredible group !! Best concert of 2022 !! Khruangbin are a must see group
Fantastic music from one of my favorite Bands...this was my 6th time seeing them perform and they never disappoint. I really hope they return to Toronto...hopefully at a seated venue!!! ;)
We didn’t realize the entrance was shared with Budweiser and ended up walking to the back through the dock area missing Men I Trust 😂 but hearing them with the sunset and the waterplanes was fantastic. When we got in, we made it for Khruangbin and GOD they are amazing. For years I’ve wanted to see them live, it was everything I imagined and more. The entire vibe, the crowd, the stage set up .. everything was so fantastic. My sis and I had a blast vibing in the crowd so close to the front. Everyone was so welcoming and genuinely having such a good time !!! Only issue was how many people threw their trash on the ground!!! These guys said to take care of the planet lol - well huge thank you to the organizers to cleaning up and making it such a beautiful venue experience. 5 stars for a 5 star band & venue 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Would definitely attend another show there and will come early to do another walk around the location as it’s so stunning ✨
The performance was 12/10. Wicked stage presence, generous set, and the stage lighting was a show in itself.
From the venue (echo beach ) to the bands (men I trust and Khrungbin) … not a night I’m gonna forget anytime soon … super chill crowd and super vibes listening to the hypnotic tunes while watching the sunset and the venue itself is worth the entry … coming back soon !!!!
I could barely hear the vocals and guitar. The bass was all I could hear in the venue
If you listen to khruaghbin regularly and love their music you’ll most definitely have a blast. They were amazing to say the least
Having seen Rush, Pearl Jam and Tool live, I would say Khruangbin was on par if not better than these renown acts. The acoustics were amazing, played all of their best songs (cannot complain about the setlist whatsoever) and delivered a performance that was unreal at times. One of the best shows of my life. Would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone!
