About

Stone Temple Pilots in Concert

With over 70 million albums sold, Stone Temple Pilots roared on to the scene in 1992 with their raucous debut, Core. A breakout success, the album peaked #3 on the Billboard 200 chart, and dominated radio waves with hits like "Sex Type Thing," "Wicked Garden," and the Grammy-Award winning smash single, "Plush." STP quickly distinguished themselves as a band beholden to no trend. Boasting the inimitable riffs of guitarist Dean DeLeo, the propulsive rhythm section of bassist Robert DeLeo and drummer Eric Kretz, and the charismatic baritone of frontman Scott Weiland, STP ruled airways, video playlists and charts alike over their legendary career. The band released their seventh studio album, Stone Temple Pilots (2018), their first with new lead singer, Jeff Gutt. The debut single "Meadow" from the self-titled album, channels the gritty guitars and swaggering rhythms that STP is known for, and reached top 5 at rock radio. All Music Guide states, "They haven't lost their knack for hook-heavy hard rock that wedges its way into the subconscious."

STP and other bands were great

by Nattttt on 2018-11-05Bell MTS Place - Winnipeg

STP and other bands were great but it seemed like the microphone for the singers of STP and Seether were not that good, I could not hear their voices too well.

Sound Guy needs a new job

by NikkiTn on 2018-11-05Bell MTS Place - Winnipeg

The Line up was great, the seats were great, the sound for the music itself was great. Could not hear the audio for the vocals for any of the 4 bands. Being in Section 205, Row 4 we should have been able to hear everything, but heard just the music - no vocals at all. It was the equivilent to hearing the audience sing the lyrics to the entire concert, except even they were quiet. Unless you knew the song that was playing, you were practically squinting to hear the words hopeing you could hear the guy singing from the stage itself. REALLY POOR VOCAL SOUND Was really excited for the line up, but honestly left disappointed. Either the speakers weren't aimed properly, or the mics themselves needed to be turned up. Eitherway it was not nearly as good as it could of been for anyone other than the pit ticket holders.

Stone Temple Pilots Needs A Professional Soundman

by DrJimy on 2018-11-03Brandt Centre - Evraz Place - Regina

Jeff Gutt's Vocals were completely lost and indistinguishable for most of their hit songs. Dean DeLeo's guitar was way too loud and overbearing as compared to the rest of the band. This is what mostly drowned out Gutt's vocals. I really enjoyed DeLeo's amazing guitar work, even with it drowning out the rest of the band. Gutt;s performance was stellar, and the audience even yelled out a few times to turn up the vocals. Overall, Dean DeLeo was very entertaining, but it would have been an amazing show if they would have had a balanced sound and the vocals could be heard

    Total professionals

    by Bugsy1974 on 2018-11-02SaskTel Centre - Saskatoon

The show at Sasktel centre was poorly attended and the organizers should have kept it to half the bowl to provide a better atmosphere. That said, all the bands took the low numbers in stride and put on a really good show for those of us who were there. I once saw an artist storm off the stage early if the crowd didn't show him enough love. These guys didn't do that. They are all true professionals and I really appreciate their efforts. Thanks!!!!

We had To Wait For STP But They Delivered ! Yeah !

by Python46 on 2012-09-30Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre - Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, Sept. 17, 2012

It is A Monday to remember. Stone Temple Pilots AT AESC. Nothing makes for great Controversy and gossip when an artist is late. There could be any reason for the delay. Stone Temple Pilots have had controversy in the past. A lot of great Rock Bands do. The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Prince, GNR and STP. Crap Happens Baby. At Close To 11pm STP hit The Stage. They didn't want to let down their fans. Their set opened with their big hit SIN, then Vasoline and Crackerman. I love their distinct sound. It wasn't perfect but the sound crew did an amazing job and I saw the hardened STP fans having a great time. For whatever reason the delay occurred, Those Veteran Rockers showed up and did their show. The next night Scott Weiland had to cancel the show because of strained vocal cords. We all hope your OK Scott. STP is Scott Weiland on lead Vocals , Eric Kretz on Drums, Dean Deleo on Lead Guitar and Robert Deleo on Bass and vocals. Their great catalogue of hits was mostly played. They were on the stage for approximately an hour and twenty minutes. Only song missed was Black Again. Not bad, with the three acts altogether it was a very entertaining and adventurous night. Their music is intense Rock, which kind of reflects in the intense controversy they seem to be in occasionally. Scott Weiland has had a colourful career. He fronted Velvet Revolver with Slash and some other members of GNR. One of those Super Groups. Great music there too. Like GNR, with STP you have to expect sometimes things don't happen as they should or there will be some wild excitement. I think that is what people come to expect from intense artists and the artists deliver. That's what makes for not only gossip but something different than the norm. It also makes publicity. Good or bad, it's still publicity. STP has won a Grammy for PLUSH, other awards and 3 other Grammy nominations that I know of. We were excited that the band reunited in 2008 and has toured since. They still have a huge fan following. It's unfortunate that these things do happen and it reflects badly on the band. No reason was given for the delay and many speculate to why. Was it Scott? Were they late? Their next show for Tuesday, Sept. 18 was canceled in Lethbridge Alberta citing That Scott's vocal Cords were strained. All I can say is The Staff at The Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre did an amazing job keeping everyone pretty much calm. A little chanting and booing now and then but for the most part the atmosphere was good. Everyone wanted to see STP ! There were disappointed fans though because STP were late. The Crash Kings opened for STP. Their set was powerful and entertaining. Celestial Ruin warmed the crowd up outside. Crash Kings and Celestial Ruin both performed superbly. Thanks STP for making it. Everyday is an adventure ! Great Entertainment! See It Live Baby !

One of the Worst Concerts I have seen

by AnonymousSTPReviewer on 2012-09-28CN Centre - Prince George

I'm a big Stone Temple Pilots fan, and was really looking forward to this. Waited an hour after the Crash Kings left the stage, before STP showed up. The sound sucked for the first 3 or 4 songs and the band went through the motions for barely an hour, then left. The crowd was small and pathetic, which might have contributed to the band's apathy.

The band was late and the sound mix was so off I wanted to leave. Worst show I have ever attended.
